Poems about Teaching (Problem Solving)

I. Multi-step approach to solving simple problems

Step one: Identify the problem.
I ain’t got no pencil
expectant pause
no response
I ain’t got no pencil
Another expectant pause
Confession is good for the soul I suppose

Step two: Identify a possible solution.
Do you have a pencil I can hold?
Yes.
Irritated - Well?
Well what?

Step three: Cursory attempt to implement the solution
Can I borrow it?
Long pause.
Raised eyebrows
Louder -Can I borrow it?
Longer pause

Step four: Solution implemented with appropriate social protocol
Can I borrow it? Please.
Of course.

Step five: Repeat regularly discontinuing intermediate steps as appropriate
Hey, I ain’t got no pencil.
